My research focuses on understanding materials with computer vision. It aims to detect materials like water and oil on industrial products, road surfaces, and floors and to identify the categories and conditions of metals and plastics. By utilizing optical phenomena dependent on wavelength and incident direction, material detection and identification can be achieved with high precision and without damage. I have developed a spectral imaging method for detecting water and oil and proposed one-shot identification techniques that utilize the multi-wavelength and multi-directional capabilities of the light source device. Drawing on my industry experience, I focus on research that addresses societal needs in manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare.
