My research focuses on material understanding through computer vision and remote sensing. By leveraging optical phenomena such as polarization and spectral reflectance, I have developed non-destructive and highly accurate methods for detecting liquids such as water and oil, as well as identifying the material and condition of metals and plastics. In addition, I am working on ground-surface material classification, band selection, and dynamic sparse learning using hyperspectral imagery acquired from satellites and drones. These studies aim to address societal needs in environmental monitoring, smart agriculture, and related application domains.
